26 TREES AND COUNTING.
-
Materials come before design. Made from local trees and wood that are en route to becoming landfill because working within constraints is not only better for the planet, it’s better for design.
-
Innovation, value, and sustainability. These aren't just words—they’re the foundation of who I am and how I build.

Dylan Arthur Howard was born 1994 in Winfield, Illinois. From an early age he developed a keen interest in making spaces. He climbed trees, dug holes, built snow forts, and eventually his very own tree house. He would go on to study architecture in highschool and eventually sculpture and furniture design at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Outside of school he had apprenticeships with an array of different artists and craftsman working with wood or trees, most notably, tree-shaping artist Gavin Munro and wooden sign-maker Tony Janda. After receiving his BFA in 2019, he did freelance custom furniture in the basement of his apartment, and in 2021 a family emergency brought him to Laguna Beach where he has worked tirelessly to develop his practice as a full-time artist + designer into a sustainable career.
